HOW TO ANSWER: Why should we hire you?
This job interview question can be asked in many different ways. Why are you a good fit to this role? | What can you bring to the table? | Why are you the best candidate for this position? These are only some of the potential rephrasing of the original question, but in order to sound qualified for the position you are applying for, consider the following tips in preparing your response.
When you are asked a question that resembles any of the above, make sure you offer an answer with an an intent to demonstrate brilliance! This is your opportunity to impress so make sure you PREPARE your answers ahead of time.
Here are some tips to help you come up with an IMPRESSIVE RESPONSE:
1. State your profile’s selling points (years of industry experience, education, certification or training, awards or recognition, relevant soft or technical skills, etc.).
2. Refer to the job description and give examples of situations when you performed and excelled in at least 3 of the major tasks for the role.
3. PRACTICE!!! It is one thing to write these things down, and another to actually hear yourself say them out loud. When you practice enough, you will have much more CONFIDENCE during the actual interview.
So, the next time you’re asked the “Why should we hire you?” question in an interview, you know exactly how to answer it!
