Resume Format

There are hundreds of suggestions online that claim they have the best resume format you can find on the internet.  They assert that theirs is effective and guaranteed to get the calls from potential employers.   How do you really know which one to follow?  I personally would go for suggestions that have been proven effective by a lot of people.  And by that I mean, actual people who have revised their resume and have dramatically changed the course of their job hunt by receiving actual calls from companies inviting them for face to face interviews.  That is the measure of a truly effective resume.

Take advice from the experts.  One just doesn’t become an expert in resumes overnight or by taking a 10-week course on the subject.  Listen to people who have been in the industry of hiring people for years and actually do this for a living.  Recruiters, Human Resource professionals, HR Consultants or Talent Acquisition Managers, they know.  They are the ones who receive, read and evaluate hundreds of actual resumes day in and day out.  They know what a bad, good, blah or outstanding resume looks like.  True, each would have their own preference but one thing is for sure.  All these experts look for resumes that do not just offer fluff.  They look for resumes that actually say that a candidate is a superstar or has a potential to become one.

The resume format that achieves this goal is one that starts with a collection of all your achievements.  Awards, recognition, sales numbers, product launches, cost savings, and yes, even number of Twitter followers if they are significant will count as a major achievement for a digital marketing professional for sure!  It is quite surprising though that many job seekers are not able to put their successes into writing.  Some cannot even remember their own triumphs.
